Government College for Women, Ratia, was established on June 13, 2012, at the Government Senior Secondary School in Ratia. The college began with a modest number of students, staff members, and limited resources, yet with a strong commitment to providing quality education to young women in the region.

In 2017, the college was relocated to a new, purpose-built campus developed by the Public Works Department (B&R) at Village Jakhan Dadi, near the Tehsil Complex, Ratia. This new facility marked a significant milestone in the college's development, offering enhanced infrastructure and resources to better serve its growing student body.

The new building was formally inaugurated on April 8, 2017, by the Chief Minister of Haryana, Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar, in the esteemed presence of the then Education Minister, Sh. Rambilas Sharma, who presided over the event. The occasion was further graced by Sh. Subhash Barala, MLA from Tohana, and Smt. Sunita Duggal, Chairperson of the Haryana SC Commission.

Since its establishment, Government College for Women, Ratia has been dedicated to empowering young women through education, fostering an environment of academic excellence and holistic development. The college continues to grow, building on its foundation to create brighter futures for its students.

The vision of the college is to empower and enable, young women , through inculcating knowledge, self assurance and progress. The college firmly believes to mainstream the marginalized and weaker sections by ensuring liberty, justice and equity in society.

The mission of the college is to steer education not only to lead to the pragmatic goal of employ-bility but also to sensitize and orient its students to the service of the community, in the  quest for a better life for the society and the world.
